Welcome to the second weekly wrap!

Here’s a wrap-up of some things I’ve stumbled upon and some ponderings I’ve had over the last week.

Something that inspired me

CES 2025 ran from 7th to 10th Jan, so over the past week I’ve been noticing videos pop up on YouTube showcasing some of the cool things featured at the “most powerful tech event in the world”. This thing though - a modular Linux handheld computer designed for customization and open-source development - I found particularly inspiring and the tech geek in me felt youthful again.


Something I’m learning about

Over the last couple of weeks I came across the increasingly popular concept of ‘food noise’, which refers to constant thoughts, cravings, or distractions about food. Food noise is often triggered by environmental cues like ads, smells, or seeing others eat, which can make you think about food even if you're not physically hungry.

Along the way, I discovered that a research team from Monell Chemical Senses Center identified the brain's food-specific memory system and its direct role in overeating and diet-induced obesity.
